Naturopathic Medicine Naturopathic medicine (also known as naturopathy, or natural medicine) is a complementary and alternative medicine which emphasizes the body's intrinsic ability to heal and maintain itself. Naturopaths prefer to use natural remedies such as herbs and foods rather than surgery or synthetic drugs. Naturopathic practice includes many different modalities. Practitioners emphasize a holistic approach to patient care, and may recommend patients use conventional medicine alongside their treatments.
At a consultation, you will be asked many questions relating to your present and past health. A physical examination is then normally required, where simple medical tests are performed (such as blood pressure, pulse rate – osteopathic examination) You may be asked to write a diet diary and fill in a symptoms analysis form, after which your naturopath will work out what foods may be aggravating your condition – what foods you need to include, and he may recommend some herbs or vitamins to take. We can also arrange various other medical tests e.g food intolerance testing candida, adrenal stress test, thyroid. |
